There are two models for me. For some reason, I have never caught on to the hype and demand of the Daytona. Perhaps it's the high price, perhaps it's the lack of a date function. Over the years, I've admired this watch from afar, but have never felt the need to acquire one. The second on my list is the Breitling Navitimer. The dial looks far too busy to me, and with other popular watches in a similar price range as the Navitimer such as the Seamaster, Pelagos, etc., I've never felt the urge to acquire one.

Yes I only like 3 handed models so no time for chronographs and GMT’s - this is because of no need or desire for the extra functions

I can relate. I own a Speedmaster as my single chronograph, but it doesn’t receive nearly as much wrist time as my 3-handed models that comprise the vast majority of my collection.

Any model of Breitling or TAG. Most others have some decent models although unlikely to buy. Yes even rolex have some nice models 😂

I’m curious what about Breitling and TAG turn you off from those brands? Is it the high price tag? Design elements that don’t appeal to you?

I am the opposite. I find the complicated dial and bezel of the Navi timer to be very appealing haha.

A brand I have never had the urge to own would definitely be Tag Heuer, although a pre merger autavia is very high on my grail list.

Why does Tag Heuer not appeal to you?

Why does Tag Heuer not appeal to you?
-Overpriced for the movement it has
-Extremely poor value retention
-Brand has no desire to innovate or release anything different
-Pivoted from a once respected watch brand to an over-commercialised fashion brand
-At their prices, there are countless better options in both vintage and modern pieces (e.g Longines)

They are the opposite of what I’d look for in a watch I would spend my money on.

Bingo! If I was rolling in bucks, I would also be in search of a Heuer Autavia (Don't worry @SeikoForum, there would be other certain brands too ;))

I didn’t know we had Heuer fans here! To be honest, I grew up in the 1990’s surrounded by Tag advertising, so I’m not that against Tag Heuer. I actually really enjoy the styling of the Formula 1. Too bad all the vintage Tag Heuer F1’s are quartz only. I wish they made automatic models.

I believe @prajaofetra is another non-fan of Tag Heuer, "too flashy, cluttered" along those lines, if memory serves me correctly. And if I'm wrong about any of this, I'll accept it all like a man.

I'm another non-fan of Tag Heuer.
I felt that a once great brand ( Heuer) became cheapened and tacky, trying to appeal to what they thought the aspirational middle market was looking for.
I've always hankered after a Heuer Camaro, but suspect that if I had one on the wrist I'd feel it was too small.
Also, I may be wrong but I think they were hand winding only, which would go against my ''deal breaker'' rule.
Ignore me,I obviously don't know what I want.

Breitling.. We'll I am not a fan of Chronographs so that's 99% of there range. Too colourful and big and shiny. Plus they use celebs to advertise there products, huge thumbs down 😁

Tag... almost bought an aquaracer, it was cheap to the feal, and somehow looked cheap on my wrist.

I typically like 3 hand day/date automatics or Quartz. I’ve kinda gravitated in to the Casio GShock digitals for the time being.

I am somewhat confused, I assume from you posts that you like the Seiko Flight master (though you do not own one due to it being quartz?) but you find the Navitimer to be a busy dial? I might go so far as to state that the Seiko Flightmaster is a Homage piece to the Breitling Navitimer. Which in itself is humorous to me given the talk of design ripoffs.

Nice observation. I never really thought about it before. I guess my reasoning is that I love the Seiko brand far more than Breitling. If the Flightmaster was automatic, I would have already bought it.

Any chunky watch with a big bezel with numbers on it. I totally, utterly don't get the whole dive watch thing. They're just fugly, end-of-story. :)

Most chronographs too. I could maybe cope with a small-sized vintage one lacking any sort of numbered bezel. I do appreciate the movements.

Military watches with arabic numerals on them.

Wow, this makes watch collecting extremely simple for you! It sounds like you only enjoy dress watches. Have you ever tried a dive watch or other sporty watch?

Nope, other than the quartz Seiko Sportura I showed in your thread about people’s early watch memories/influences.

I think the modern idea of a dress watch is far too broad. A dress watch is a very conservative round watch, ideally in gold and possibly hand-wound without a seconds hand. A cushion-case watch or a vintage King Seiko isn’t a dress watch, it’s just a watch. In fact, many vintage watches that are considered to be “dress watches” today were actually “sports watches” when they were made.

A dive watch is for diving, something I don’t do, but I’d like to try it sometime and at that point I might get a dive watch. I feel the same way about dive watches as I do about 4x4 cars and all of the fake chunky wannabe 4x4 cars that everyone seems to have these days. If I ever need that sort of car I’ll get one with a winch and a snorkel and use it for its intended purpose. 🙂

If the Seiko SNA411P1 was an automatic no one else would be able to sell flight chronographs .
